ZANACO coach Numba Mumamba has described the 2016 CAF Champions League draws as fair and is seeing victory.
The 2015 MTN/ FAZ Super League runners up will face the winner of the preliminary round match between Harare City of Zimbabwe and As Adema of Madagascar.
Mumamba told the Daily Nation in an interview yesterday that his team was given a fair draw and will make sure they grab victory.
“It is a fair draw for us. I cannot complain or despise our opponent. Both teams are a good side. I am familiar with the kind of play by Harare City. I know how they play because I have watched them several times on Super Sport. But for the other team As Adema, they are completely new,” he said.
He said however that he woulod adequately prepare the team for any opponent.
He said the players will start training on December 21 to ensure that they started getting ready for the task ahead in terms of fitness.
“Our target is to go past the first game. We will take the game as it comes. The boys will kick off preparations On December 21.
This is a competitive tournament and will ensure that we are prepared,” he said. ZANACO will be making their debut appearance in the CAF Champions League after putting up a strong fight to finish second behind ZESCO.
Meanwhile, ZESCO United will face a seemingly easy opponent, South Sudan on March 12. ZESCO were ejected from the 2015 tournament after losing 5-4 on post-match penalties to Guinean side AS Kaloum in Bamako.
Meanwhile, Chipolopolo Soccer Fans Association patron Yotharm Mwanza called on the clubs to begin early preparations to give Zambia an honourable representation.
“This time, our teams should aim at reaching the finals. It’s not easy but they need to have a strong fighting spirit. Our players should prove themselves at international level too,” he said.
