PEOPLE’s Party (PP) president Mike Mulongoti has now developed verbal-diarrhoea and that is the reason why he has the audacity to make reckless comments on issues without caring about how Zambians will feel, New Revolution Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba.
Commenting on Mr. Mulongoti’s statement that animals were living better than Zambians, Dr. Mumba said the PP leader had become used to insulting others without realising that he was denting his own political career because his statements were injuring Zambians.
He said it was highly irresponsible of a politician of Mr. Mulongoti’s standing to hail insults at innocent Zambians simply because he did not agree with the government in power and challenged him to leave active politics to sane politicians who debated issues and not personal attacks.
Dr Mumba charged that Zambians would never forgive Mr. Mulongoti for insulting them by comparing them to animals thereby degrading their social standing.
“Mr. Mulongoti thinks that by issuing statements he is attacking government alone but he does not understand that he has offended a lot of people in the process because of his reckless statement. Where does Mr. Mulongoti get the audacity to compare Zambians to animals? This is shocking especially that it is coming from a person who has been in government before and understands how systems operate.
“Our humble advice to Mr. Mulongoti is that he should swallow his pride now and apologise to the people of Zambia and retract the statement because it does not only affect those in government but all of us. This is unacceptable. It is clear that Mr. Mulongoti now has verbal diarrhoea and that is why he can say anything in the hope that by so doing, he will be making political headway,” Dr. Mumba said.
He said Mr. Mulongoti should not pretend that all was well when he was in government because this was not the first time Zambia was going through economic challenges
D Mumba said NRP would live above political insults and would give credit where it was due, whether on government or fellow opposition political parties.
“Mr. Mulongoti should not forget that he was chief government spokesperson at the time Zambia faced one of the biggest economic meltdown’s under the MMD government and so, he should be the last person to criticise the PF government as though the party is responsible for the challenges we are facing today,” he said.
Mr. Mulongoti was yesterday quoted as saying animals in the bush were living better than some Zambians because of the poor leadership of President Lungu.
