KPGM has partnered with IBM Software to bring to Zambia IBMs Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) software which provides advanced data and analytical capabilities to businesses.
KPGM Zambia assurance partner Maaya Chipwayambokoma said the BI software would enhance planning and budgeting in businesses.
Speaking at an executive breakfast meeting discussing financial management applications in Lusaka, Mr Chipwayambokoma said the software would also improve on reporting and analysis of business activities.
Mr Chipwayambokoma said the real purpose of the meeting was to communicate to companies that business in Zambia was becoming more sophisticated and organisations needed to evolve to match challenges.
“The real purpose of the presentation was to communicate that doing business in Zambia is becoming more sophisticated and organisations need to evolve to match those challenges.
“In this vein we now are partnering with IBM Software to bring to Zambia IBMs Cognos Business Intelligence software which provides advanced data and analytical capabilities to businesses.,’’ he said.
He said KPMG started the process four years ago with a reinvigoration of the firm to provide a broader range of services in Zambia.
And KPMG South Africa data and analyst Kathleen Hart said the software was quick and reliable.
Ms Hart assured the business executives that the software would improve the cost of doing business.
Meanwhile, IBM Central Africa software territory leader Aumesh Hurry said BI helped financial organisations improve efficiency and steer business performance.
Mr Hurry said the software also helped define targets for planning and forecasting as well as for profit and growth initiatives.
“The result is more reliable, forwarding looking view of business structures such as product families and sales territories,” he said.
He said most finance teams spent an inordinate amount of time in manual collecting and validating data.
Mr Hurry therefore said the BI software was flexible and agile solution that could provide fast, reliable results with deeper insight of data.
