ZAMBIA Hockey Association (ZHA) has confirmed that all was on course for the hosting of the Africa Cup of Club Championship scheduled for December 12 to 19 at Lusaka’s Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC).
ZHA coordinator Thomas Mumba said yesterday that the organization has raised K78, 000 out of the K90, 000 targeted budget required to successfully host the event.
“I can confirm that we will successfully host the Africa Cup of Club Championship; K78,000 has been raised so far, while we are hopeful of raising the K12,000 deficit. My appeal is to the corporate entities to assist in ensuring that the tournament is a success,” he said.
He said Zambia will be represented by Lusaka Sharks and DE Stars Clubs in both men’s and women’s sections.
He said the players were shaping up well in training and the morale was high.
“Both the men and women teams are responding well to training. They have shown commitment to training which is vital ahead of this tournament,” he said.
Mumba said 11 clubs will compete in the men’s category while the women section will have seven.
The participating countries include hosts Zambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Eygpt, Libya and Zimbabwe.
