Church thief jailed 18 months


A man  accused of stealing  from the Bread of Life international, has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour.

Gift Banda admitted stealing a fridge, a projector, 300 chitenge church materials, 10 cups, two key boards and one tray of eggs all valued at  K45,000.

He was arrested and detained at Chilanga Police station after he was accused of breaking into the building of Bread of Life International Church.

Banda told Magistrate Jennifer Bwalya that he broke into the church building on November 2 this year and took away the items without authority.

He said he wanted to sell the items and make extra money for himself and buy food for his family.
