ZAMBIA has the best investment opportunities because the country has remained politically table, a Chinese business delegation prospecting to invest in the country has said.
And Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe said Zambia has always been ready for Chinese investment because the country was desirous to attain exponential economic and social development.
A 20-man Chinese business delegation arrived in the country yesterday with its leader Liu Dao-Gang saying Zambia and China’s bilateral and diplomatic relations had made it possible for the Asain country to consider investing in the country.
Speaking to journalists soon after arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Mr Liu said the 20-man Chinese delegation was prospecting to invest in sectors such as agriculture, energy, technology and bicycle assembling.
Mr Liu said his delegation was looking forward to fruitful investment discussion with the Zambian Government and that the Chinese companies were ready to set up companies in as many sectors as possible.
He said the 20 companies prospecting to invest in Zambia were coming with an investment capital of US$1 billion which would see the launch of the One Belt and One Road Industrial Park being set up in the country.
Mr Liu said the One Belt and One Road Industrial Park was a concept that was going to help Zambia on her route to economic transformation and hoped that Government would be able to buy into the concept.
“We are very happy to have come to Zambia and the country has remained one of the best investment destination. We wish to invest into this country because it is peaceful and the people are friendly. We come with a concept of One Belt and One Road Industrial Park which we believe is going to help transform Zambia’s economic and social development. We are coming with 20 companies that are prospecting to invest in sectors such as manufacturing, energy, waste disposal management and high tech and engineering,” Mr Liu said.
And Mrs Mwanakatwe, said Zambia was seeing a window of grand investment opportunity with the coming of the Chinese business group.
Mrs Mwanakatwe said it was pleasing that the Chinese business delegation had come to Zambia to physically see the investment potential the country had.
She said the Chinese business delegation was looking at fast-growing sectors in which to invest and that Government would continue providing attractive investment environment and conditions because the country was in a hurry to economically advance.
The 20-man Chinese business delegation was also received by Minister of Lands Christabel Ngimbu and other Government officials.
