A new political party known as Odini Liberation Party has been formed with the sole objective of uplifting the welfare of the poor.
Former Unemployment Association of Zambia (UAZ) president Mpundu Mwanamwelwa who is leading the party said the formation of a new political party would provide support to poor people, especially those in remote areas and calamity-prone towns.
Mr. Mwanamwelwa said poverty reduction and care for the poor was one of the key policies which the party would be paying much attention to.
He said it was saddening that 51 years after independence, most Zambians still lived in abject poverty and have difficulties feeding and clothing themselves. And Mr. Mwanamwelwa said he was disappointed with members of some political parties who wanted to embarrass the Head of State through their hate speech against others.
He said opposition political party members should put their houses in order and heed to the President’s desire reconcile the nation and transform the nation.
Mr Mwanamwelwa said his party welcomed the President’s prayer and fasting because it was an indication that a new chapter was opened.
“We know that some people just want to let the President down through their hate speech. We are appealing to the PF members to heed to the President’s call to reconcile,” he said.
He said God had used President Lungu to manifest his work, adding that those with members with hate speech should tone down and adhere to God’s calling for peace and unity in the country.
