THE Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) has called on Zambians to take advantage of empowerment opportunities available and help Government in diversifying the economy.
CEEC director general Likando Mukumbuta noted that entrepreneurship was the only way that the country’s economy could be improved.
Mr. Mukumbuta said there was need for Zambians to be actively involved in entrepreneurship if Zambia was to develop.
“They should understand business in as much as they need to be supported. So we urge them to take advantage of empowerment opportunities available in Zambia,” Mr. Mukumbuta said.
He said the commission was committed to supporting and promoting entrepreneurship activities in Zambia.
He said that between 2013 and now the commission had distributed K55 million in all the 10 provinces of Zambia to support local entrepreneurs of different sizes.
“CEEC has always been committed in promoting local entrepreneurs throughout Zambia; we want to ensure that our people have a very strong hand in business in this country, so that we can help our Kwacha,” he said.
Mr. Mukumbuta said the commission’s commitment to empower local entrepreneurs would help in the diversification of the country’s economy.
He said the commission was looking forward to a future where it was going to invest a lot of money in local entrepreneurs.
“We are really looking forward to raising a lot of money because a programme like this one will also support the diversification programme,” he said
Mr. Mukumbuta further said that the commission had managed to raise K300,000 for the construction of workshops countrywide which would be rented to local entrepreneurs.
