Support creation of districts in Kalumbila, Mushindano chiefs told

Home Affairs deputy minister Col Panji Kaunda has implored traditional leaders in Kalumbila and Mushindamo districts to support the transition of Kalumbila and Mushindamo into districts by sensitizing the people in the districts  on the process.

And Col Kaunda says Government stands committed towards delivering the much needed development in the two created districts and the entire North-Western Province.

Speaking when he graced this year’s Kuvuluka Kishakulu traditional ceremony of chief Matebo in Kalumbila district, Col Kaunda said the creation of the two districts by President Edgar Lungu was done in order to accelerate development in the two areas.  He said the task could not be left to Government alone because traditional leaders were key stakeholdersin the transition process.

‘’Let me take this opportunity to implore you our royal highnesses to help Government in the realisation of the two districts by sensitizing people”, he said.  He said the creation of the two districts should not be politicized, adding that they were created for purposes of bringing development closer to the people.

Col Kaunda said in order to align Government’s objective of bringing cost-effective quality health services as close as possible to the people in Kalumbila district, President Lungu recently commissioned the Lumwana district hospital which was built at the cost of K15,000,000.

“The recently commissioned district hospital will improve the lives of the people and reduce on referral cases to Solwezi district,’’ he said.

He said through the ward development fund (WFD) Government was undertaking various projects in the chiefdom such as the construction of a 1 by 2 classroom block at Kasombo Community School at a cost of K150,000, the construction of a maternity wing at Muyashi rural health centre at a cost of K1250,000 and the completion of  a staff house at Mutumba Kichile Primary School at K45,000 among others.

And under the Constituency Development Fund, Col Kaunda said Government was constructing staff houses at Kalende Primary School at a cost of  K100,000, completion of a 1 by 3 classroom block at Kakaindu Community School at a cost of K150,000 and the completion of a rural health centre at Kichile at a cost of K120,000.

“All these projects being undertaken are a clear testimony of the Patriotic Front Government’s commitment towards improving the lives of the Zambian people. I am therefore appealing to you to fully support the PF Government in order to achieve the much needed development,’’ he said.
