Doctors have been inspired by President lungu’s vision and statement on the social determinants, the Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) has said.
ZMA president Aaron Mujajati said President Lungu’s state of the nation address would go down in the history of Zambia as one of the greatest speeches ever delivered in the history of the National Assembly because it touched on all critical issues affecting the country. Dr Mujajati said the President’s vision of how he wanted Zambia to be governed and developed was clear on the policy direction Zambia needed to take, but was concerned with the inability by technocrats to operationalize and actualise the vision of the Head of State.
“To us, as the Zambia Medical Association, President Lungu’s vision is very clear. As a leader, President Lungu has provided policy direction of how he wants the country to move and it is up to us as a people to identify our place in attaining the goals. Now it is up to our operatives to help the President implement his plan for the nation. Our only concern is whether we do have the capacity to deliver on his vision.
“Often, the policy direction could be just as good but they do not get implemented, leading to the failure to actualise the President’s vision?” Dr Mujajati said.
He explained that most speeches in the past had ended up just being shelved and gathering dust and advised that a powerful speech such as the one delivered by President Lungu should be allowed to deliver the expected results to the citizens.
