THE Post newspaper is going to die not because of President Lungu but because Fred M’membe has misplaced investment priorities including financing a political party instead of investing in his business or paying his workers, special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda has said.
The Post newspaper Mr Chanda said had accumulated a lot of debts which the newspaper was failing to settle and that it was misplaced propaganda to blame President Lungu who was not there when the newspaper was accruing its debts.
He said the Post Newspaper still owed the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) millions of kwacha in unsettled tax obligations and that it was business sense that the ZRA was demanding that the newspaper should be accountable for neglecting its obligations.
Mr Chanda explained that President Lungu was clear in his statement when he told Mr M’membe hated him and was fighting because he was looking for someone to blame for the collapse of his business.
“The behaviour of Mr M’membe is that of someone who wants to commit suicide because he realises that he committed a lot of transgressions and is looking for someone to blame. The President spoke figuratively and Mr M’membe understands Bemba. The President said M’membe alefway ukwakufwila awe ine nakana and Mr M’membe understands that. So the death of the Post should not be associated with President Lungu. The post will be killed by the actions of its owner,” Mr Chanda said.
Mr Chanda said it was common knowledge that Fred M’membe habours corrosive hatred against President Edgar Lungu and has embarked on a political suicidal trajectory and has chosen the Head of State to blame for killing his newspaper whose current financial status is as a result of wrong investment ambitions.
Mr Chanda said the libellous assertions that President Lungu hated him and would want dead were nothing but a figment of imaginations from a man who was dead scared of his own crimes omitted against Zambians and looking for a safe exit.
He stated that President Lungu had much bigger things to do than waste time to think about what would kill Mr M’membe and his Post newspaper.
Mr Chanda said Mr M’membe should leave President Lungu out of his self-martyrdom because the Head of State could not risk lowering his status as Head of State by wasting his emotions on trivialities being peddled by the Post Newspaer proprietor.
The Post have in the last two days ran editorials claiming that President Lungu hated Mr M’membe and would be glad if he (M’membe) and his newspaper died because the Head of State could not stand the criticism.
But Mr Chanda said it was unthinkable for Mr M’membe to imagin that President Lungu hated him because Zambians were fully aware that it was the Post Newspaper owner who was harbouring corrosive and nihilistic hatred and malice against the Head of State.
“Mr M’membe wants to commit suicide and is looking for someone to blame for his actions. He must leave the President out of his self-induced martyrdom because the Head of State has much bigger things to think about than risk lowering his status to think of what would kill Mr M’membe. He stated that the Post Newspaper had accumulated a lot of debts which the newspaper was failing to settle and that it was miscued propaganda to blame President Lungu who was not there when the newspaper was accruing its debts.
