Zambian diplomat dies in Botswana

 

 

A Zambian diplomat based in Gaborone Botswana has died, Ministry of Foreign Affairs public relations officer, Dorcas Chileshe has announced.

Ms. Theresa Funga 48 is said to have died in her sleep in the early hours of Saturday.

In a statement to the Daily Nation yesterday, Zambian High Commissioner to Botswana Brigadier General Patrick Tembo confirmed the death of Ms Funga,

“Ms Funga, 48, who was First Secretary for Administration at the Zambian High Commission in Botswana, died in the early hours of Saturday in her sleep. Zambian High Commissioner to Botswana Brigadier General Patrick Tembo confirmed the death of Ms Funga to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lusaka on Saturday,” Ms. Chileshe said. And Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Chalwe Lombe said his Ministry was working with the Zambian High Commission in Botswana in facilitating the bringing of the body to Zambia for burial.

Ms Funga is survived by two children and a grandchild.

The funeral of the late Ms Funga is being held in Lusaka’s Makeni area at her uncle’s house.
