Standard Chartered Bank robbed

THIEVES in Solwezi have made away with an undisclosed amount of money after robbing Standard Chartered Bank.
Confirming the incident to Daily Nation, North-Western Province Deputy Commissioner of Police Frank Mumbuna said the incident happened on Saturday.
“The robbery happened at around 03:00 hours on Saturday,” he said.
Mr Mumbuna said the lone masked robber broke into the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and took an unknown amount of money.
He said the unidentified criminal then set the building on fire to distort the evidence of a robbery.
The deputy commissioner said the police have not arrested the criminal but have apprehended a suspect.
“We have a suspect in custody and we are still carrying out various investigations to catch the criminal who is still on the loose” he said.
Mr Mumbuna declined to disclose the particulars of the suspect in custody for fear of jeopardizing the investigation.
He called on anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and work with the police to catch the perpetrators of the crime.
