Mine licence cheers Kasempa community

Kasempa Royal Establishment has praised Government for giving the people of Kasempa a large scale prospecting mining licence to enable them carry out exploration of minerals in the Katoka-meema area.
KRE spokesperson Norman Katombela said the people of Kasempa were overjoyed with Government’s decision.
Mr. Katombela praised Government for listening to the plight of the people of Kasempa district He said the district has been languishing in poverty since its establishment in 1991.
Mr Katombela said the mine would help eradicate poverty and the high levels of unemployment among the youths.
“We are very happy because this is in line with our goal as the royal establishment to improve the lives of our people” he said. He said Zambians should not only enjoy but also participate in reaping the rewards that come with mining of minerals.
Mr Katombela said the community would not be spectators but participate actively.
“Senior Chief Kasempa and Chief Ingwe will work together to represent the community and ensure that the community’s interests are duly represented,” he said.
Mr Katombela noted that the mine would not only benefit the people of Kasempa but also the entire North Western Province through job creation and strengthening of the economy.
“We want to ensure that everyone within the province benefits from the mine regardless of tribe,” he said.
ZCCM-IH would partner with the two chiefs within the community to offer expertise in developing the mine.
The company will invest in the mine and come up with a structure on how the mine should run.
Over the weekend, Mines Minister Christopher Yaluma handed over the first ever large scale prospecting licence to Kasempa community.
Mr. Yaluma said Government would ensure that the people of Kasempa were given a full mining licence in the next three months to enable them start production.
