Cabinet tackles power crisis

CABINET met yesterday to deliberate on solutions to the electricity deficit and ensure that the problems of power supply are addressed.
Briefing the Pess at State House yesterday, Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda said solutions to the electricity deficit was key on the agenda.
Mr Chanda however said Minister of information and Broadcasting Services Chishimba Kambwili would tomorrow announce steps which Cabinet had taken to ensure that there was energy security in the country.
He said the problems of power supply with regard to hydro power which had been in short supply due to low water levels would be addressed by Mr Kambwili who is Chief Government spokesperson.
“The Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Honourable Kambwili will make an announcement on Wednesday. There will be a special Cabinet meeting which conclude today’s meeting,” Mr Chanda said.
He said deliberations of today’s cabinet meeting would continue on tomorrow.
Mr Chanda said the announcement which would be made by Mr Kambwili would be based on both Monday and Wednesday’s special cabinet meetings.
