‘MIGHTY’ Mufulira Wanderers will be targeting to overturn the 4-1 beating they suffered to defending champions Zesco on April 12 in week 4 MTN/FAZ fixture when they host them at Shinde Stadium this afternoon.The Mufulira side will go into the Week 19 MTN/FAZ Super League fixture game motivated after they beat National Assembly 1-0 last week.
Mufulira Wanderers is placed fifth on 29 points while Zesco is leading the table on 40.
Coach Manfred Chabinga said his charges will not settle for anything less than a win when they face Zesco.
Chabinga said he will not target a draw as the team hopes to move up the table.
“Zesco is a strong team hence we will apply consciousness to the game. The players are mentally and physically ready for the game. We are targeting a win to keep the hope of moving to fourth position,” he said.
He said his players have put aside the 4-1 loss and believe they can overturn the tables.
Zesco coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina said they will not underestimate Mufulira Wanderers especially that they will be visitors.
“In football everything is possible so we cannot underrate Wanderers. But we are determined to collect three points from this game,” he said.
Zesco will look to striker Jack Mwanza and his partner Winston Kalengo to unlock the Mufulira Wanderers defence.
In other fixtures, third placed Zanaco on 35 points, a point behind Power Dynamos will be targeting to shoot to second position when they visit Lusaka Dynamos at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
The other Lusaka derby is between Power Dynamos and relegation-threatened Napsa Stars who are placed third on the table on 16 points. Red Arrows, who have 25 points and placed seventh, are determined to collect three points to move a step up when they host Nkwazi at Nkoloma Stadium.
Sixth-placed Green Buffaloes will host Forest Rangers while Nkana will host National Assembly at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Nakambala Leopards will be pressing to keep the hope of surviving relegation when they host Green Eagles in Mazabuka.
Nchanga Rangers will host Konkola Blades at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.
