THE Patriotic Front (PF) is unstoppable and will deliver on its mandate and win the 2016 general elections despite a corrosive hate and slander campaign by a group of selfish individuals and some media houses against President Edgar Lungu, Mumbi Phiri has vowed.
And Ms Phiri has accused former vice-president Guy Scott of harbouring corrosive hatred against President Lungu, alleging that the former acting president was bitter that the man he did not like had been elected President of the country.
She said the political environment has been highly polarised by individuals who were seeking power through manipulation by the help of some sections of the media which she said was championing messages of hate and divisive propaganda.
Ms Phiri appealed to the membership of the PF and the citizenry to rise and work in unity to defeat the mercenaries of hate, malice and bitter propaganda against the Government by continuously highlighting the economic and infrastructure development being implemented.
Addressing journalists at Southern Sun Hotel yesterday, Ms Phiri said the ruling party should constantly check the feedback from the masses adding that the PF was going to continue informing citizens on what the Government was doing.
“The PF is unstoppable in its quest to grow the economy and promote sustainable development despite the charged political environment where politics have been polarised by those who seek power through manipulation. Through hook and crook, they have worked hard to sow seeds of despondency and discord. It is disheartening that even some sections of the media are championing and spreading hate messages and divisive propaganda without reflecting on consequences of sowing seeds of discord. There is therefore the need for the PF members and the general citizenry to work together and defeat the lies,” Ms Mumbi said.
