Dr Kaingu commends private Universities

Education Minister Michael Kaingu has said Government recognised the significant involvement of private universities towards the development of higher education in the country.

Dr Kaingu said institutions of higher learning such as DMI-ST. Eugene University have endeavoured to provide quality education in Zambia through the many programmes offered.

He said Government would therefore support all initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education especially in the fields of science, mathematics and technology.

Dr Kaingu said this when he officiated at the fourth graduation ceremony for DMI-ST. Eugene University held at Government Complex in Lusaka at the weekend.

He urged the graduands to utilise the knowledge and skills acquired to effectively contribute to national development. And University Chancellor, Father Arul Raj, said 107 graduands were being awarded first and master’s degrees in various fields from the university.

Dr. Raj said the university was set to open a college of engineering and technology in Zambia if the assessments being conducted over the matter yielded positive results. – ZANIS
