PF ponders firing spies

THE Patriotic Front (PF) Government has started screening sensitive State installations and institutions to purge saboteurs undermining President Edgar Lungu and the governance of the country, secretary general Davis Chama has said.

Mr Chama said saboteurs were not only enemies of the people but are a danger to the State and the governance of the country and should never be allowed to be in the governance system of the country.

Mr Chama has admitted that a number of State installations and institutions are still infiltrated by agents of the notorious cartel but that the ruling party was working at identifying the moles so that they could be flushed out of Government institutions.

He said it was treasonable for anyone one to sabotage and blackmail Government with the aim of causing regime change and that those that will be found to be tampering with State installations to undermine the governance of the country would be dealt with severely. Mr Chama told the Daily Nation that the ruling party was alive to the fact that sensitive and strategic State installations such as Indeni, Zesco, Zamtel as well as investigative wings were infiltrated by cartel members who were stealing and leaking sensitive government information to their masters.

He said the Daily Nation was apt by warning Government to be wary of a group of individuals who have orchestrated a scheme to vilify and undermine the Zambian Government with the sole purpose of causing an uprising so that there could be regime change in 2016 or even before.

Mr Chama said the PF as a Government had embarked on the process of screening sensitive State installations and institutions with the aim of purging cartel elements that were undermining President Edgar Lungu and the governance system of the country.

He said the PF was on top of things but would not casually deal with what he termed the devil who was working at destroying the country by sabotaging and blackmailing Government.

“It is treason to sabotage or blackmail Government and the cartel should know that it is not only an enemy of the people but a danger to the governance of the country. As a ruling party, we have started screening sensitive institution and installations such as Indeni, Zesco, Zamtel and ZNBC among others and we are going to uproot and dismantle the cartel. We have laws in this country and the saboteurs should know they are committing treason and when we identify them, they will certainly have to face the wrath of the law,” Mr Chama said.
