THE Patriotic Front (PF) in Lusaka’s Matero township has distanced itself from the attacks on the National Democratic Party (NDP) president Tenthani Mwanzah.
PF Matero youth secretary Stanley Kapula was reacting to yesterday’s story in the Daily Nation in which Mr Mwanzah stated that he had been assaulted by PF cadres over his piece of land near Buseko market in Matero.
Mr Mwanzah told the Daily Nation that on Friday last week some cadres went to his plot and started demarcating it with the view to selling it to prospective developers.
He further said when he went to inquire from the cadres as to why they were demarcating his land when he had documentation of ownership, the cadres pounced on him and beat him up.
Mr Mwanzah said he rushed to police for a police report to access medication.
But Mr Kapula said allegations that cadres from the ruling party assaulted him over a piece of land could be a case of mistaken identity.
He claimed that Mr Mwanzah was attempting to extend his land near to Buseko market.
He said the youths did not touch him but simply told him to stop collecting levy because that was the job of the local council.
Mr Kapula appealed to Mr Mwanzah to approach the council so that they could legalise the area he was trying to create as a market.
