OPPOSITION UPND members have sold their political party to few rich individuals who have joined the party ahead of the 2016 general elections, Patriotic Front Lusaka Province youth chairperson Kennedy Kamba has charged.
And Mr. Kamba has claimed that former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba was no longer a heavyweight in Zambian politics and therefore the PF was not scared of meeting him in Kasama in a by-election.
In an interview yesterday, Mr. Kamba said the UPND had taken a self-destructive route which would not help them next year.
He said the incorporation of Mr. Mwamba and others in the UPND from the MMD did not add value to the existence of the opposition political party.
Mr. Kamba noted that the recruitment of Mr. Mwamba into the UPND was of no significance to the UPND and no consequence to the PF because he (GBM) was a “finished politician who had no following”.
“The PF in Lusaka is not shocked about GBM’s conduct. We know him because that is the way he is. We are watching him closely and we are ready to face him and his UPND in Kasama. So let him officially resign from the PF and we go for a by-election. We shall teach him a lesson. Kasama is not his house or company where he makes laws or where he fires and hires anyone anytime he wishes,” said Mr. Kamba.
He warned the UPND that they should not be proud of themselves of having recruited GBM as their vice president because his desire was to take over the party leadership ahead of 2016 general elections or thereafter.
Mr. Kamba said it was “shameful” for the opposition UPND to allow people who did not invest anything in the party to take positions, the way GBM had done.
“We are not worried, actually it is good riddance. We expelled Ba GBM a long time ago. He is a PF reject in short. He is still clinging to PF through the injunction.
Let him withdraw that matter and see what will happen to him in Kasama,” he said.
And Mr. Kamba said the PF will whitewash the opposition next year.
He said Zambians will go into an election next year with PF developmental activities on their mind.
“There is no way Zambians will vote for the opposition next year especially if they value development. The PF has done enough of developmental activities and that is a vindication that we are in Government to change the way we live. Zambians must be happy and this is what we are doing,” said Mr. Kamba.
