LUSAKA businessman and former motivational speaker Mubita Nawa has been sued over a debt amounting to K39, 000.
In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court by Messrs Paul Mulenga and Associates yesterday, Mr Michael Zulu is seeking an order to compel Mr Nawa to settle the debt.
Mr Zulu is also demanding damages, interest and any relief the court may deem fit and costs incidental to the action.
He said around November 2013, Mr Nawa borrowed the money and after getting the money he committed himself to liquidate the debt but he never did.
“The defendant has since made several and written commitment to the plaintiff to liquidate the debt but none of the commitments or promises have borne fruit.
“The latest of such commitments was one made in writing on the 8th July 2015 wherein the defendant committed himself to liquidate the date as follows: (1) payment of K700 by 13th or 15th July 2015 (2) payment of K700 on the 15th of the subsequent months commencing on 15th August 2015 until full payment of the debt,” Mr Zulu said.
Mr Zulu said to date he has not received any payment from Mr Nawa towards the outstanding debt in spite of several verbal and written reminders.
He said because of the failure by Mr Nawa to pay back the money, he has suffered loss and damage.
