Lafarge has officially partnered with Holcim to form a new group (LafargeHolcim) which will work towards creating the highest performance in the building industry.
Company CEO Eric Olsen said LafargeHolcim will have five key focus areas grouped around synergies-capital allocation, commercial transformation, integration and health and safety.
This follows the successful completion of the merger between Lafarge and Holcim and the listing of the new LafargeHolcim shares in Zurich and Paris.
“Now as LafargeHolcim, we will step into the next phase of our transformation to become the leader in every aspect,” he said.
Mr Olsen said Lafarge would be a company that has a positive impact on the world and could make a real difference for its customers, employers, stakeholders and the society.
He said the company was initiating a strategic transformation by building on the best of both Lafarge and Holcim.
Mr Olsen said under its synergies in the first integration phase, the company would deliver on Euro 1.4 billion synergy target within three years.
He said the capital approach would allow rigorous approach to capital allocation and overall reduction of capital spending.
“Capital transformation will create differentiation through innovative products and solutions while integration will create one new group and culture,” he said.
Mr Olsen said under the health and safety key the company would put health and safety at the centre of the organisation.
He said LafargeHolcim would be organized along a new operating model oriented to serve the local customers, while leveraging the group’s size, footprint and capabilities at global scale.
“It combines empowered countries, regional management platforms and expertise-driven group functions,” Mr Olsen said.
