A Lusaka bus driver who admitted being flirtatious in a Lusaka Local Court and asked his wife to forgive him has been divorced
Isaac Tembo,34. of Kuku compound was testifying in a case in which his wife, Beatrice Tembo, 29, of the same compound sued him for divorce.
The two got married in 2004 and have four children.
Beatrice told Senior Court Magistrate Kalunga Chansa sitting at Chawama Local Court that when they married Tembo was just a bus conductor and that they stayed at his parents place.
She explained that when their first child was five months old Tembo deserted her for another woman in Chawama.
Beatrice said in 2009 Tembo impregnated a woman and that in 2010 he got the child and kept it at their matrimonial home.
“In 2012 Tembo impregnated the same woman but unfortunately she miscarried. In 2013 he impregnated another woman who works at Snow White area of Chawama.
“ Tembo was telling me that he was spending nights at the funeral of the president. When it persisted I followed the other woman and Tembo hid under the bed” said Beatrice.
She explained that she left the matrimonial home in May 2014 and that Tembo also went to stay with his girlfriend in John Laing.
Tembo said that what Beatrice told the Court was the truth and that he was asking for forgiveness.
Asked by Beatrice if he is not staying with a woman called Naomi, Tembo said that he stays at the home of his boss and that he only meets Naomi on the road because he has a child with her.
Passing judgment, Magistrate Chansa granted the couple divorce ordering Tembo to compensate Beatrice with K5,000 in monthly installments of K300 and to be paying children maintenance fee of K500 per month. Property acquired together to be shared equally.
