WYNTER Kabimba should realise that socialism is outdated and unattainable for Zambia because it is associated with dictatorship and bad governance, Patriotic Front Lusaka Province youth Chairman Kennedy Kamba (left) has said.
In an interview, Mr. Kamba said attempts by Mr. Kabimba to re-introduce socialism in Zambia through the Rainbow Party should not be allowed because the ideology was associated with evil and dictatorship.
He said socialism failed Zambia under Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and there was no need for the country to go back to what caused the economy to collapse.
“This is a laughable matter because socialism has no place in Zambia. It failed before because it was evil and did not empower the people at all. Socialism gives too much power to an individual and for Kabimba to go that route it shows how power-hungry he is. He wants to be very powerful and going that route will be a disaster for Zambia,” Mr. Kamba said.
He said Zambians rejected Mr. Kabimba at the time he was minister and PF secretary general and wondered how they would make him republican President for him to turn Zambia into a dictatorship kind of governance.
“There is no way Zambians can trust people like Mr. Kabimba. He was rejected in the PF because he showed undemocratic traits which threatened the democratic governance of the country. We don’t want to make mistakes of bringing into power a dictator. Kabimba was a dictator in the PF,” said Mr. Kamba.
He warned Zambians not to buy into ideologies which would create division and anarchy in the country, adding that Mr. Kabimba’s main aim of forming his political party was to fix certain individuals he did not agree with and those he thought kicked him out of the PF.
In March this year, Mr. Kabimba said the Rainbow Party would be guided by the principles of socialism.
Mr Kabimba said it was important for the leadership of the party to understand that leadership in the Rainbow Party was a privilege which did not place members above others.
“Our ideology of socialism demands that we firmly uphold these values and ideals if we are to transform the social and economic conditions which exist in our country today. We shall deal firmly with the culture of impunity as promoted by the MMD and perpetrated by PF. But for the Rainbow Party to do this, the citizens must first undertake to liberate themselves by joining and voting for the party in 2016 so that society at large becomes the instrument of this social change,” Mr. Kabimba said.
