Man dragged to court by former wife over prostitute remark

A 37-YEAR-OLD man of Lusaka has been dragged to court by his former wife for calling her a prostitute.

This is in a case in which Nolifa Ntini, 34, of Kanyama compound sued her former husband, Golden Phiri of Makeni Villa for insulting her.

Phiri admitted insulting Ntini.

Ntini told Senior Court Magistrate Morgan Kayanika sitting at Kanyama Local Court that Phiri was her husband whom she married in 2003 but divorced in 2012.

She explained that after they divorced she went to see Phiri’s mother who was sick but Phiri insulted her and told her that she is a prostitute.

Ntini said that when she reported Phiri to police he ran away. Ntini further stated that every time Phiri finds her he insults her.

He has followed to her workplace on seven occassions to insult her.

In defence, Phiri said that he only told Ntini that she was a ‘left over’.

Phiri said that Ntini tells people that they divorced because he wanted to kill her when that was not true.

In submission, Ntini said that she wanted Phiri to keep a distance and stop insulting her.  Phiri said that Ntini should also stop talking about him because he has married another woman.

Passing judgment, Magistrate Kayanika said that it seems Phiri still wants Ntini.

He said that Phiri should stop going to Ntini house but should continue with his life because he has married another woman. He told Ntini to sue if Phiri continues insulting her.
