A RAINBOW Party member who allegedly threatened to shoot and kill a traffic police officer in Lusaka has denied committing the offence of threatening violence.

The incident happened a week ago after a quarrel ensued between Peter Kashala and a police officer identified as Ramson Chinena, 40, on Bishop Road in Kabulonga over the number of people he was carrying in his vehicle.

Appearing before Lusaka resident magistrate Annie Holland was Peter Kashala, 30, of Lusaka’s Chelston who pleaded not guilty to the offence of threatening violence.

This was when the matter came up for plea.

Particulars of the offence are that on June 14, 2015 in Lusaka, Kashala with intent to cause alarm did threaten Chinena with injury to which he did say, ‘I will shoot you’.

Magistrate Holland granted Kashala a K1, 000 cash bail with two working sureties.

She adjourned the matter to June 26, 2015 for commencement of trial.
