A 56-YEAR-OLD teacher told a Local Court in Lusaka that his wife has a habit of pulling his manhood during fights which he said would be hard to replace in case of a serious injury.
Divilious Khupe,of Chazanga compound was testifying in a case in which his wife, Taberth Namaundi, 47, of Chawama compound sued him for reconciliation.
The two got married in 2008 and have one child. Dowry was paid.
Khupe however told the court that he cannot reconcile with Namaundi because marriage ended when she left the matrimonial home.
Namaundi told Senior Court Magistrate Sarah Nyendwa sitting at Chawama Local Court that she has never enjoyed her marriage because Khupe has been negligent from inception.
She explained that after one month in marriage she found a photo of Khupe’s former wife in the house and when she asked him to remove it he told her that he could not and asked her to leave if she so wanted.
Namaundi added that when she became pregnant Khupe only bought four napkins and a showel and started coming home late when she was nine months pregnant.
When she asked him why he was coming home late, he pushed her against a table and sustained injury on the stomach.
“I have been bleeding from June 8, 2012 until now after I aborted the second pregnancy on his instruction. And when I asked for the K3,000 he borrowed from me he pushed me and squeezed my neck.
“On July 17, 2013 he sued me for divorce because we were not making love but when I forced him to make love to me he injured me again,” said Namaundi.
In defence, Khupe said his wife has a bad spirit which forces her to be beating him.
“She pulls my manhood outside the house when we differ yet it cannot be replaced in the event it is removed after I suffer serious injuries,” said Khupe.
In submission, Namaundi said that she wanted to reconcile with her husband but Khupe said that he cannot reconcile with her because they may end up killing each other.
Passing judgment, Magistrate Nyendwa said that there was violence in the marriage and that there was no love because Khupe could not have told his wife to abort if he loved her.
She ruled a failed reconciliation and said it was up to one of them to sue for divorce.
