A 30-year-old woman told a Local Court in Lusaka that her husband was sending her to sleep with other men in exchange for money.
Precious Mazuku, 30, of Chaisa compound was testifying in a case in which her husband, Isaac Mazuku, 46, sued her for divorce.
Isaac told Senior Court Magistrate Lewis Mumba sitting with Magistrate Petronella Kalyelye at Matero Local court that all was well until 2014 when Precious started flirting with other men.
He explained that in June 2014 he found his child with a love letter from Precious taking to a man.
“I married Precious in the village but when she came in Lusaka she became flirtatious. At one time she packed and went to another boyfriend in Kanyama who is a Security Guard and when I found them I took them to Chaisa Police station where they were locked up.
On May 15, when she left I found her in Mutendere compound with another man who has dread rocks.
“She is the one who should have sued me for divorce since she doesn’t love me because I love her very much if she wants I can go home with her,” said Mazuku.
Asked by the court how many times he was deserted, Mazuku said that he was deserted four times. In defence, Precious said that Mazuku was sending her to sleep with other men in exchange for money because he was not doing well financially.
She explained that Mazuku is cruel and that he at one time assaulted her, adding that Isaac was improvident and that it was the reason why his first wife ran away.
“Mazuku was following me to ask for forgiveness and on May 17, he took me to police on allegation that I store a radio and blankets. He was leaving K3 or K6 for ration,” she said. Passing judgment, Magistrate Lewis Mumba dismissed the case because dowry was not paid.
He ordered Mazuku to be paying child maintenance fee of K400 per month. Property acquired together to be shared equally.
