PATRIOTIC Front (PF) media director Brian Hapunda has been fired.
PF secretary general Davis Chama told the Daily Nation yesterday that there was a lot of indiscipline in the ruling party and that he had taken action to dismiss Mr Hapunda to restore order.
Asked if he had fired Mr Hapunda following a story in the Post Newspaper in which it was reported that he had collected campaign money from Finance Bank Zambia Limited chairman Rajan Mahtani and remitted it to President Lungu and the First Lady Esther, Mr Chama respondend by saying the former media director had just been fired.
Mr Chama said Mr Hapunda’s office fell under his office and he did not need to explain why he had fired him.
He said there was so much indicipline in the PF and that his decision was meant to bring sanity to the party in Government.
“I have just fired Mr Hapunda. He falls under my office and there is so much indiscipline. We want to bring sanity to the party,” Mr Chama said.
This is the third time that Mr Hapunda has been fired in the PF. In 2013, Mr Hapunda was fired as PF Southern Province political secretary.
He bounced back as PF media director in 2014 after former secretary general of the ruling party Wynter Kabimba was dismissed and the media director then, Chanda Mfula, resigned.
When Dr Guy Scott was acting PF president following the death of President Michael Sata on October 28, 2014, Mr Hapunda was again fired.
Mr Hapunda only got his job back after President Edgar Lungu assumed the PF presidency.
