Widow dragged to court for shaving married man’s pubic hair

A widow told a Local Court in Lusaka that she shaved the pubic hair of a married man because  he told her  he was single.

Beauty Siasamba, a bar lady of Marapodi compound was testifying in a case in which Bwalya Masoka, 42, of Garden compound sued her for defamation.

Siasamba is alleged to have called Masoka a prostitute with  many boyfriends.

Masoka told Senior Court Magistrate Lewis Mumba sitting at Matero Local Court that all was well in marriage with her husband but things started changing in January.

She explained that each time she wanted to shave his pubic hair he  would refuse  and that the other time he came home completely shaven.

Masoka told the court that during the January   presidential elections she saw her husband emerging from Siasamba’s bar in Chaisa Compound and that she confronted Siasamba and told her the man she was with was her husband.

“My husband changed his behavior and stopped buying food for home and was spending nights out. On February 14 I followed him to Siasamba’s house after I was tipped and I found him sleeping on a sofa,

“ Siasamba told me she thought my husband was not married and that was why she shaved his pubic hair. My husband continued sleeping at Siasamba’s house and I found him with Siasamba on three occassions,

“ I followed him six times and when I sued Siasamba my husband refused to come to court because Siasamba threatened him for she is older than him,” said Masoka.

In defence, Siasamba said that she told Masoka’s husband that she wanted a single man because she was a widow.

She explained that he proposed love to her in 2013 and told her that he was not married and that was why she proceeded to shave his pubic hair and the two started living together.

“Masoka did not insult me when she was following me but on a Saturday she insulted me after accusing me of having told her husband that she has boyfriends,

“When she accused me of having locked up her husband in the house because I am a prostitute, I retorted by calling her a prostitute. Her husband refused to be her witness,” said Siasamba.

Asked by the court why she did not stop flirting with Masoka’s husband even after learning he was married, Siasamba said she couldn’t stop because Masoka’s husband approached her family and paid admission of guilty.

In submission, Masoka said that she wanted to live in peace because every time she passes by, Siasamba phones her husband and tells him that she is going to drink beer with boyfriends.

Passing judgment, Magistrate Mumba said that Masoka went to Siasamba and she saw that she was the wife of the man she was  living with but went ahead to shave his pubic hair.

He said that it was evident that Siasamba defamed Masoka because she told her she was a prostitute herself.

He ordered her to compensate Masoka with K2,500 in monthly installments of K500.
