Tribunal members credible – Pule

THE Annel Silungwe Tribunal set up to probe the alleged misconduct of  suspended Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito has credible members who will successfully execute their duties diligently, Christian Democratic Party (CDP) president Dan Pule has said.

And Evangelical Youth Alliance International president Reverend Moses Lungu has warned the Zambian Voice executive director Chilufya Tayali to stop disparaging the tribunal as the consequences were grave.

In an interview over the continued delays of the Tribunal proceedings, Dr. Pule said the best Mr. Nchito and others should do was to give the tribunal time to do its work.

He said he was confident that people tasked to run the tribunal would diligently carry out their task, adding that patience was needed.

“I am confident that the tribunal will deliver the truth and justice about the conduct of Mr. Nchito and other issues related to the terms of reference on which grounds the President established it on. This is the only route that can deal with constitutional office holders. There is nothing to fear or worry about in this tribunal. It is not the first or last tribunal in this country. We have had other tribunals before this one and I believe the former chief justices on this one have the capacity and integrity to run it,” said Dr. Pule.

And Rev. Lungu said it was shocking that Mr. Tayali had suddenly changed goal posts over the Mutembo Nchito matter.

He said there was more than what meets the eyes in Mr Tayali’s position on Mr Nchito, adding that Mr. Tayali must explain to Zambians why he was scandalizing credible individuals appointed to sit on the tribunal.

“Tayali should tone down; I have been watching his moves. He is moving faster than his heart. I wonder where he is going. He is a young man but the way he is taking life is costly for himself. I hope he doesn’t cry foul. He has allowed to be used by criminals whose interests are to defraud the Government and manipulate the law of the land to suit their evil desires,” said Rev. Lungu.

“I don’t know why people are tolerating him like that? Tayali is hired to scandalize individuals by his pay masters now. But I have to warn him that he is fighting a lost battle. Mutembo Nchito wanted a tribunal and he is gotten it and let the Tribunal work, otherwise Tayali will have his hands burnt for nothing,” said Rev. Lungu.
