…should be caged for slandering former Chief Justices
CHILUFYA Tayali, the Zambian Voice executive director, is a hired gun who should be caged for slandering and scandalising the country’s distinguished and eminent citizens such as former Chief Justices Annel Silungwe, Mathew Ngulube and Ernest Sakala, Chief Government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili has charged.
And Mr Kambwili has said Mr Tayali and his paymasters should not drag President Edgar Lungu and former president Rupiah Banda into the tribunal currently investigating the professional misconduct of suspended Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito.
Mr Kambwili, who is Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, said Government was aware that the people behind the schemes to slander and malign the Annel Silungwe-led tribunal had committed a lot of political and financial transgressions against Zambians.
He said the people behind the fierce propaganda against President Lungu were determined to save Mr Nchito who was their ally and business partner and would go to any lengths to discredit the integrity of the members of the tribunal and other personalities.
Mr Kambwili told the Daily Nation that Mr. Tayali, a rape accused, had no moral right to question the integrity of former Chief Justices Silungwe, Ngulube and Sakala whom he said had served the country with integrity.
He said no matter how much propaganda the clique was going to mount against the tribunal and its members, the integrity of the former Chief Justices would remain undented because Zambians were seeing through the malice of Mr Tayali and his sponsors.
Mr Kambwili said Mr Tayali had no moral right to judge others before his rape case was concluded and that if he was an intelligent person, he would never have sold his soul to the people who were bent on demonising every Zambian who was a friend to the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).
“Mr Tayali is not the right person to talk and demonise our former Chief Justices Annel Silungwe, Mathew Ngulube and Ernest Sakala who have served our country diligently. Mr Tayali should have kept quiet until after his rape case was over but we are not surprised because he is a hired gun who should be caged for his outbursts against the tribunal, its members and other citizens. What he should know is that he will be used for as long as his paymasters need him and he should be ready to be dumped after helping them with their agenda,” Mr Kambwili said.
He said Zambia has had many tribunals but that the Mutembo Nchito inquiry had generated the worst hatred against its members because the people involved had over the years been known to abuse other citizens with impunity and without getting challenged.
Mr Kambwili said there were a lot of prominent Zambians who had been subjected to the tribunals and that Mr Nchito was far from being close to their integrity although some media houses had portrayed him as a saint.
He wondered what achievements Mr. Tayali has contributed to the country for him to have the audacity to attack the former Chief Justices in the manner he was doing.
Mr Kambwili said President Lungu and former president Banda should not be blamed for what Mr Nchito was going through because the Head of State was not there when the suspended DPP was committing his alleged crimes.
He said it was not possible for former president Banda to sponsor the Annel Silungwe tribunal or influence the PF Government on any of the policies and administrative actions that were being taken.
“For those who hate President Lungu with a passion, let them accept that he is the Head of State. They should live with it that he is the one governing and that he will be there for the next ten years. ,” Mr Kambwili said.
