A Police officer in Lusaka has been arrested for alleged corrupt practices involving K10.000.

Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) public relations manager Timothy Moono said Akayombokwa Siyomunji, 36, of Farm No. 196A Mungwi Road in Lusaka west, has since been charged with two counts of corrupt practices contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Mr Moono said in the first count, details of the offence are that between August 2013 and December 2013, Siyomunji is alleged to have corruptly solicited K5,000 cash from Mhlupheki Ndhlovu and actually received K1,000 through ZOONA money transfer to discontinue investigations.

Siyomunji was at the time investigating Ndhlovu on allegations of fraud and theft.

In the second count, Siyomunji is between October 18, 2013 and December 31, 2013 alleged to have corruptly solicited K5, 000 cash from Makhosana Ndolo and actually received K400 through ZOONA money transfer.

This was allegedly an inducement for Siyomunji to discontinue investigations into allegations of fraud and theft against Ndolo.

Mr Moono said the police officer has since been released on bond and will appear in Court soon.
