PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary general Davies Chama has warned the party leadership on the Copperbelt to desist from peddling lies about each other and instead concentrate on uniting and strengthening the party ahead of the 2016 general elections.
Mr Chama said the party leadership on the Copperbelt should stop spreading lies about each other because lies and hatred would only create division and weaken the ruling party.
He was speaking when he met the PF provincial leadership, district and constituency leaders from Kitwe, Kalulushi and Chambishi at Buchi Hall in Kitwe.
“Peddling lies and accusing each other of belonging to the opposition Rainbow Party will only promote division and hatred among party members. Those who are Rainbow members will one day be exposed. We don’t need to chase them.
“I am telling you, the chairmen at the province, district and constituency, to stop chasing people from the party by telling lies about them, that they are members of the opposition Rainbow Party. These lies will not build our party, they will just create division and weaken the party,” Mr Chama said.
Mr Chama also said President Edgar Lungu would be the PF presidential candidate in the 2016 general elections and those making manoeuvres to stand as PF presidential candidates in next year’s elections were wasting their time.
“According to the PF constitution, President Lungu will be party president for the next five years and so he automatically becomes the PF presidential candidate in the 2016 general elections.
So those making plans to take over from President Lungu next year are wasting their time.
“Indeed they are wasting their time because PF will only hold a general conference after five years which is in 2019,” he said.
Mr Chama also said President Lungu would win next year’s election with a landslide and challenged any Zambian, including UPND President Hakainde Hichilema, to a bet.
He said President Lungu was a good person with a vision to take Zambia to greater heights and so Zambians should support him, instead of listening to cheap rhetoric from disgruntled opposition politicians.
“We have a great leader in Edgar Chagwa Lungu and am prophesying that President Lungu will win next year’s election with a landslide victory. I can bet with you and if I lose I will give you K1 million. Am also challenging UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to bet with me, if I lose I will give him K1 million,” He said.
