ANOTHER suspect in the murder of the UPND cadre, Grayzer Matapa of Lusaka’s Mtendere township, has appeared in Lusaka Magistrates Court for explanation of the charge.
This brings the number of suspects to six who are awaiting the Director of Public Prosecution’s instruction to be committed to the High Court.
Daniel Tembo, 39, of Mtendere Township has been charged with murder.
Others charged with him are Billy Semani Kansenya, Moses Lungu, Maxson Phiri and Yapanshi Mwewa.
Another suspect, Albert Mainsa is charged with assisting Mwewa to escape justice.
Tembo, who was taken to the court in handcuffs and accompanied by armed plainclothes police, appeared before acting Chief Resident Magistrate Aridah Chulu on Thursday.
When the other uspects were earlier in the week taken to the Lusaka Magistrates Court for explanation of the charge, Tembo was remanded at Woodlands Police Station.
But later, the court ordered that Tembo should also be presented to court, hence his appearance.
Recently, Magistrate Chulu told the accused persons that they would not take plea because they were charged with murder. She said they would wait for instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions so that she could refer the matter to the High Court.
The matter has been adjourned to May 22, 2015.
