THE Chipolopolo Boys yesterday resumed serious training in readiness for the international friendly against Malawi this Saturday and the COSAFA Cup set for South Africa from May 17 to 29.
Team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi said 13 players had reported for training out of the 29 called to the squad.
He said among those that had reported was Felix Katongo who had be recalled to the squad by coach Honour Janza.
Katongo who plays for Al Ittiihad in Egypt and is currently training with ZANACO last featured for the national team during the international against Japan on June 6, 2014.
Kamwambi said TP Mazembe midfielder was expected to join the team today while the Power Dynamos and Nkana players were scheduled to enter camp yesterday.
“So far 13 players have reported for training this morning. But we are expecting the Nkana and Power players later in the day.
Sinkala is also expected to join the team today,
“The technical bench is this conducting training seriously and I am urging clubs to release the players that have been called to camp as early as possible, “he said.
The Chipolopolo who are on bay in the preliminary stage will await the winner of the battle in Group A involving Zimbabwe, Namibia, Seychelles and Mauritius.
Meanwhile, the Under-23 national team failed to train yesterday morning because Lusaka’s Sunset Stadium pitch was been watered.
The under-23 is preparing for the Rio Olympic Games qualifier and will face either Botswana or Kenya on May 23.
The senior provisional team squad has Danny Manyau(Red Arrows), Jacob Banda(Zesco), Joe Kanyemba(Power Dynamoes), Chrisopher Munthali (Power Dynamos), Bronson Chama (Red Arrows), Donashano Malama(Nkana), Fackson Kapumbu (Zanaco), Kabaso Chongo (Tp Mazembe),Andrew Kwiliko (Zanaco) and Justin Zulu (Zesco) and Felix Katongo (Al Ittiihad).
Others are Kondwani Mtonga (Zesco), Rainfold Kalaba (Tp Mazembe), Given Singuluma(Tp Mazembe), Nathan Sinkala(Tp Mazembe), Jack Chirwa(GBFC), Benson Sakala(Chicago Magic America), Lameck Silwamba(Mighty), Shadreck Musonda(Nkana), Allan Mukuka(GBFC), Jimmy Ndlobvu(Power), Jackson Mwanza(ZESCO), Patson Daka(Nchanga), Paul Katema(Red Arrows),Winston Kalengo(Zesco), Webster Mulenga(NakambalaLeopards) and Aaron Katebe (Fc Plantinum Zimbabwe).
