EDITH Nawakwi and the Post Newspaper are lying in suggesting the International Monetary Fund had recommended the removal of Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda.
Speaking from Washington, a member of the inspection team that recently visited Zambia, said it would be out of character for the multilateral organization to make such a “silly” recommendation to the Government.
Besides, he said, the IMF had respect for Mr. Chikwanda who had exhibited a deep sense of commitment to the economy and well-being of the country.
Ms. Nawakwi is quoted in yesterday’s issue of the Post Newspaper as saying; “ The International Monetary Fund have said that this Minister of Finance Alexander Bwalya Chikwanda, my elder brother, is not capable of managing fiscal policy at the Ministry of Finance, period.”
Ms. Nawakwi has been challenged to substantiate her claim.
Meanwhile, Youth for Empowerment have called on “alangizi” to help tame the bitter and acidic language of the FDD leader, “who is always belittling the President, when she was flatly rejected by the Zambian people.”
Publicity secretary Samson Chenda said Ms Nawakwi was a political failure who should step down from her party leadership position and give an opportunity to a more dignified and mature leader who would bear the prospect of winning an election.
