PF East defends Chama

PATRIOTIC Front Eastern Province chairman Attan Mwamba says calls to have party secretary general Davis Chama removed from office are premature and lack reasoning.

Mr. Mwamba disowned the two youths from Eastern Province, George Mwanza and David Lungu, who were demanding the removal of Mr Chama saying they did not belong to any party structures and the statement attributed to them did not have the blessings of the party in the province.

He said the party was behind President Edgar Lungu and would remain loyal to the Head of State and to all his appointees.

Mr Mwamba said it was unfortunate that Mr. Mwanza and Mr. Lungu could rush to the media and issue such statements against the party secretary general. “These people are close to Mr. Chama and I am shocked that they are the ones to issue such a statement. I want to remind all party structures in the province that we have a President and the Head of State who makes appointments and therefore we must remain loyal to him,” he said.

“The executive committee of the PF in Eastern Province is not connected to a statement attributed to George Mwanza and David Lungu demanding for the removal of the party SG. Those boys are not coming from any party structure and whatever has been attributed to them has no blessings of the party in the province. That is their own opinion; we shall remain loyal to President Edgar Changwa Lungu and the party secretary general.

However we are surprised that George Mwanza and David Lungu have today turned against the SG. These are boys who are close to the SG. My humble appeal to the SG is that let him create time and address the concerns raised by members.

We know that time has not been on his side, he should create time to go round the country and hear what the people are saying,” said Mr. Mwamba.

He said people were looking forward to see him and hear what the party’s vision was on youths and unemployment.

And PF COMESA youth chairperson Beckson Mulenga implored youths in the party to remain loyal to the party structures and desist from being used to fight battles for individuals with a different agenda from the PF.

Mr. Mulenga said all those plotting Mr. Chama’s down fall were working against President Lungu and should be treated as such. Mr. Mulenga said the ongoing maneuvres by a certain group of PF members to hound out Mr. Chama from the position of secretary general of the party was a scheme to make the PF unpopular ahead of the 2016 general elections.
