ZAMBIA should seriously consider setting up her own airline, says, Rwanda Airline director of flight operations Captain Santos Pinto.
Cpt Pinto said there was need for Government to start flying outside Zambia using its own national airline not only for business but to promote tourism.
And Transport, Communication, Works and Supply minister Yamfwa Mukunga said Government was doing everything possible to come up with its own airline.
Speaking to Journalists at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Mr Mukanga said the introduction of the Rwanda Airline flights to Lusaka will be sustained in Zambia because of its lager clientele.
Mr Mukanga said the introduction of the Rwanda national airline in Zambia will help boost the airline industry in Zambia.
He said the introduction of the Rwanda Airline flights signified the beginning of business between Zambia and Rwanda.
Mr Mukanga said the Rwanda Airline was another option of flying to Johannesburg, adding that when the airlines arrived in Zambia it would be connecting to South Africa.
“What it means is that there will be increased flight to South Africa from here using the Rwanda Airline and there is also chance of Zambians going to Rwanda,” he said.
Mr Mukanga said Government started a long time planning for the Rwanda Airline to be introduced in Zambia, adding that it conclusion would help more flights coming on board.
He said Zambian skies would be safer with installation of the new ladder system which will become operational in September.
The installation of the new ladder will attract more flights to Zambia, which would bring more business in Zambia.
