An axis of jelousy and spite to malign President Edgar Lungu and his governance system has been created to undermine the ruling party, Patriotic Front youth chairperson Kennedy Kamba.
Mr Kamba said FDD president Edith Nawakwi, one of the losing presidential candiddates in the January 20 presidential elections, Chikondi foundation president Bishop John Mambo and Anglican Priest Father Richard Luonde have exposed themselves as belonging to the infamous cartel which was the reason why they have been receiving prominence in a named newspaper.
He said this showed hatred for the position President Lungu has taken to fight tax evasion, which had affected the cartel whose mission was to avoid paying tax for all their businesses, as well as to shield each other’s illegal dealings.
He said the cartel was bitter with President Lungu and have silently declared war against his stance on tax evaders who have held on to public funds and were fighting Government against paying back.
“They are just bitter because President Lungu has forced them to follow the correct channel in operating their businesses, but what they want is to avoid paying tax.
“The paper is just giving them headlines while the plan is to amass enormous wealth for themselves. “It is all about making money by not paying tax on all businesses,” he said.
Mr Kamba accused the cartel of failing to accept that President Lungu had put his foot down and would not allow them to have their way in their dealings especially after the recent suspension of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito and subsequent appointment of a tribunal to investigate his alleged misconduct.
“He (M’membe) thinks he is a king maker, he is not. It is the Zambian people who are king makers, they are the electorates and they choose who their king is,” he said. And Mr Kamba said there was no way the FDD leader could suggest that President Lungu should return from China because there was nothing he was doing in Asia that would benefit Zambia.
“There is no way Madam Nawakwi can claim not to be aware of the importance of the 2015 Boao Forum for Asia.
“How can a person of that caliber honestly stoop so low and suggest the President has gone for leisure at an Asian summit, it is unfortunate,” he said.
