ZIMBABWE-based striker Aaron Katebe has been ruled out of the International friendly against Rwanda on Sunday due to club commitments.
Chipolopolo team manager Luseko Kamwambi told journalists after morning training session at National Heroes Stadium that Katebe’s club Platinum Stars were reluctant to release him for national duty.
“Katebe will not be part of the Rwanda friendly because his club is dilly-dallying to release him,” he said.
It is believed that Katebe has a critical game this weekend hence his club’s refusal to release him.
Kamwambi said Katebe has been replaced by Zanaco midfielder Salulani Phiri who was not on the provisional squad for the Rwanda game.
He said Bruce Musankanya who is nursing a hamstring injury has been replaced by Kabwe Warriors striker Paul Simpemba.
And team doctor Joseph Kabungo has ruled out Spencer Sautu and Patrick Ngoma due to injuries sustained during the All-Africa Games qualifier against Nigeria.
Kabungo said Ngoma sustained a hamstring injury while Sautu has an ankle injury.
“The duo have a critical return game in two weeks’ time, we have given them time to recover in their best interests,” he said.
And coach Honour Janza said he will miss the services of the trio that have been ruled out of the Rwanda friendly.
“I will miss the service of the trio but I have no option but to work with other available players. We will manage without them,” he said.
He further expressed happiness that Amazulu striker Bornwell Mwape was adapting well to the Chipolopolo philosophy.
“Bornwell, and the rest of the players are all adapting well to training compared to the first day we trained,” he said.
Other players expected to join the squad are the TT Mazembe trio Given Singuluma,Kabaso Chongo and Captain Reinfold Kalaba.
