Road Development Agency (RDA) chief executive officer, Bernard Chiwala has been fired, acting RDA board chairman Charles Sipanje has announced.
Mr Sipanje said Mr Chiwala has been replaced with RDA director of construction and rehabilitation Kanyuka Mumba.
He announced the changes in a statement yesterday.
Mr Sipanje, who is also Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications permanent secretary, said the appointment of Mr Mumba was with immediate effect.
“The Road Development Agency has appointed Mr Kanyuka Mumba, RDA director of construction and rehabilitation, as the new chief executive officer and director of the Road Development Agency. The appointment is with immediate effect. The board terminated the contract of Mr Bernard M. Chiwala,” he said.
Mr Sipanje said the board directed Mr Mumba to ensure that the Link Zambia 8000, Pave Zambia 2000, the L400 and other projects be speeded up and that he should closely supervise the implementation of these projects.
Mr Sipanje said the board further directed the new RDA chief executive officer to ensure that local contractors were given opportunities.
“The board also directed Mr Mumba to ensure that all outstanding issues with contractors are resolved quickly and that opportunities are also given to local contractors,” he said.
