‘Mighty’ spear hapless Nkwazi

‘MIGHTY’ Mufulira Wanderers have waited 10 years for a Premier Division win and true to their legendary tag of winning games late, ‘Mighty iwina icungulo’, Erick Chibuye struck pretty late in this MTN-FAZ Week-Two match before a sizable crowd at Nkoloma Stadium to silence unimpressive Nkwazi.

And that decade long wish came via an 87th minute goal by Chibuye which sent the crowd into a frenzy as Wanderers fans were left believing their fighting  team was back to its old fight styles and was ready to face the best at the top.

But hopefully they did not forget the rate of wastefulness from this side which in the 23rd minute they missed a penalty through Warren Kunda, after Nicholas Kamocha was fouled.

‘Mighty’ played the last 30 minutes with a man advantage after Nkwazi’s Brian Mulenga was sent off in the 55th minute for a crude tackle.

Nkwazi in the 70th minute were left with a man down after Brian Mulenga was red carded which made their chances to equalize near impossible.

This wins takes Wanderers into mid table with three points off two matches with that opening loss to Konkola Blades well and truly forgotten.

On the other hand Nkwazi will  have to continue searching for not just their first win but a first goal as well. At the same stadium Red Arrows were not the team people remembered from last year when they looked lost, defeated  and almost got relegated. This year Arrows Captain Bronson Chama seems to have brought stability at the back but the frontline still looks like it needs some work to be done and yesterday the ZAF sponsored  outfit picked up a point after a one-all draw against Nchanga Rangers.

In the match, veteran Francis Kombe of Arrows put his team ahead in the 21st minute but that goal was cancelled even before the Red Arrows supporters could finish celebrating when Bwalya Kasonde posted one for Rangers.  Arrows Aubrey Chimulwanda missed  a penalty in the second half as the two sides, winners from the Week-One games, shared spoils.
