MMD Mbala Member of Parliament Mwalimu Simfukwe says he will work closely with the Patriotic Front (PF) Government because he has realized that is the only way his constituency will develop.
Mr Simfukwe said in an interview that he would support the development projects being implemented by the PF Government in his constituency so that people could appreciate the work it was doing.
“As a member of Parliament I will work very hard and closely with the PF Government because they are the ones who deliver development and so that my people can enjoy the benefits of this government.
“I will support all the projects PF government in my area so that our people can see the benefits of being under this Government,” Mr Simfukwe said.
Meanwhile, Mr Simfukwe said he would wait for decision of his supporters and councillors whether he should re-contest his seat in the 2016 general elections.
He said he would listen to the advice they would give him before taking any step as to whether he should re-contest or not.
Mr Simfukwe, however, said that he was happy that the people and councillors had faith in him as their lawmaker.
“That is the decision of my people, I think they have faith in me, they have stood by me up to this stage. I have almost all the councillors in Mbala behind me.
“I think the support they have given me in the last three years despite being under difficult situations, shows that they have faith in me. If they think that they would like me to remain their member of Parliament in 2016 they will tell me, it is their wish,” Mr Simfukwe said.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court reversed the High Court decision which nullified Mr Simfukwe’s election as Mbala member of Parliament.
Mr Simfukwe was petitioned by PF member Evaristo Kasunga and the High Court ruled in his favour after it held that Mr Simfukwe did not call a witness who convened a meeting where Mr Kazunga was allegedly discredited.
However, the Supreme Court dismissed this reason and reversed the decision of the High Court to nullify the seat.
