THE UPND should desist from accusing the Patriotic Front (PF) of being behind the suspension of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito when the fact is that the Hakainde Hichilema-led party started calling for the establishment of a tribunal to investigate the DPP way back when President Michael Sata was still alive, says PF secretary general Davis Chama.
Mr. Chama said the UPND had shown a lack of morality by going against their own agenda which started in late 2011 months after the PF formed Government.
He said the UPND was morally bankrupt and lacked direction on many matters of national interest, adding that the people of Zambia should remain awake and watch the opposition’s way of doing things.
In an interview, Mr. Chama said Zambians should not risk entrusting the leadership of the country in the hands of the UPND because they have not been consistent.
“PF is not shocked to see the UPND speaking in tongues on matters concerning the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions Mutembo Nchito. I must remind the people of Zambia that it was UPND who wanted Mutembo Nchito out of that office over the K14 billion Development Bank of Zambia loan they owe. It was UPND who protested against Mutembo Nchito and not PF. So it is surprising to see them accuse PF of being behind the suspension of Mr. Nchito when the crusade to have him investigated was promulgated by the UPND themselves even before Mr. Ng’uni filed criminal charges against him in the courts of law,” said Mr. Chama.
He said the solidarity the UPND was giving Mr. Nchito was out of bitterness, and desperation for power, adding that UPND and its leaders have nothing to offer in Zambian politics.
He wondered why the UPND were attacking President Edgar Lungu for setting up a tribunal and suspending Mr. Nchito for the same allegations party presidential advisor Douglas Siakalima preached about.
Mr. Chama urged Zambians to denounce and condemn the UPND who were deceiving them and whose politics if not stopped, would divide the nation. Mr. Chama said that the rate at which the UPND was moving was dangerous not only for Zambians and the people they hate but also for themselves.
UPND leaders among them party spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa and Mr. Siakalima who is advisor to president Hichilema have accused the PF of trying to hound out Mr. Nchito from the office of DPP as payment for former president Rupiah Banda’s support for President Lungu.
