NEWTON Ng’uni’s lawyers, Makebi Zulu, Keith Mweemba and Gilbert Phiri are suing Mutembo Nchito for K14 million which they intend to donate to the Development Bank of Zambia.
The lawyers are counter claiming K14 million in a matter in which the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has sued the quartet demanding a total of K6 million in what he called malicious prosecution and defamation.
Mr Nchito who was yesterday suspended by President Edgar Lungu and is going to face a tribunal on allegations of misconduct and impropriety entered a nolle in respect of himself over a number of charges and later demanded that the complainant, Mr Ng’uni and his three lawyers should pay him damages, an action the Zambian Voice said was nothing but extorting citizens.
Mr Zulu confirmed yesterday that he, along with other two lawyers representing Mr Ngúni had through their lawyer, Sikota were demanding K14 million from Mr Nchito which they intend to donate to the Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ).
“We have made a counter claim to what Mr Nchito is claiming from us. We are demanding that Mr Nchito should pay us K14 million in damages for defamation and we are going to donate this money to the Development Bank of Zambia,” Mr Zulu said.
Mr Nchito is demanding K4 million for what he called malicious prosecution and damages for defamation from the three lawyers representing Mr Ng’uni and is demanding a further K2 million from the former deputy minister.
