KASAMA Central Patriotic Front (PF) member of Parliament (MP) Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has been summoned by the ruling party’s disciplinary committee to exculpate himself over charges of campaigning for opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema in the last presidential election.
PF sources have revealed that the ruling party had written to Mr Mwamba but the Kasama MP had allegedly ignored them as he did not respond to the charges leveled against him.
The PF has however given Mr Mwamba, popularly known as GBM a last chance to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for campaigning for Mr Hichilema.
The PF sources said that Mr Mwamba’s conduct to rebel against his own party had brought the ruling party and the name of President Edgar Lungu into disrepute and odium.
Efforts to get a comment from Mr Mwamba failed as he could not be reached on his mobile phone.
On Monday, President Lungu expelled former PF Chongwe member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo for gross misconduct for campaigning Mr Hichilema.
Ms Masebo in her campaign messages verbally assaulted President Lungu apart from using unpalatable and abusive language.
