PATRIOTIC Front senior officials from Chongwe constituency yesterday protested at Parliament gates against the presence of area Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo in the House whom they accused of working against the ruling party.
PF constituency chairman Oliver Kachepa, who presented a petition to Mandevu constituency MP Jean Kapata said Ms. Masebo was an enemy of the PF and there was no reason why she should continue enjoying the benefits of being a parliamentarian on the PF ticket.
Mr. Kachepa said Ms. Masebo was not fit to continue representing the people of Chongwe on the PF ticket, adding that her conduct in the constituency was inimical to the growth and stability of the PF and Government.
“Madam Kapata we are here to express our deepest displeasure against the continued stay in parliament of Ms. Masebo. She is an enemy of the PF. Her presence is undesirable.
We want to find out why she has continued to attend Parliament on PF name when she has been discrediting the PF in the constituency to the extent of paying people to rebel against the ruling party,” said Mr. Kachepa.
Mr. Kachepa, who wanted to force himself into Parliament grounds, said Chongwe constituency did not need Ms. Masebo whom they also accused of betraying the confidence of the PF leadership who supported her candidature when she lost to MMD’s Japhane Mwakalombe.
And receiving the petition Ms. Kapata, who is Minister of Tourism and a member of the PF’s Central Committee, said he would table the petition at the Central Committee meeting.
“I know how unhappy you are and I wish to plead with you to remain calm because the party leadership is alive to your problems and we shall table your concerns at the time the Central Committee will meet in the next few days,” said Ms. Kapata.
