THE Patriotic Front (PF) Government should no longer entertain the Grand Coalition on a people-driven Constitution now that the grouping has become a ‘‘Trojan horse’’ for selfish partisan interests, ABZ Lusaka Province chairperson Philemon Mwape has said.
Mr Mwape said PF Government should not continue engaging the Grand Coalition over the constitution-making process.
He said when the Grand Coalition started its activities to push for a people-driven Constitution, many Zambians believed in the cause and gave it support.
Mr Mwape said it was on this basis that churches offered their buildings for the prayer meetings in demand for a people-driven Constitution.
“But recent happenings including what the leader of the National Restoration Party, Mr. Elias Chipimo said, when withdrawing from the Grand Coalition has helped Zambians to open their eyes and see how the Grand Coalition has been compromised,” he said.
Mr Mwape said the provocative approach of the Grand Coalition including terming the guidance of His Excellency Mr. Edgar C Lungu in the constitution making process as evil schemes was because of championing the agenda of a known opposition political party.
He said it was therefore not in order for the PF Government to continue engaging the Grand Coalition over the constitution-making process.
“The Government should no longer entertain this grouping now that that it has turned itself into an agent of a known opposition political party,” he said.
Mr Mwape said the Grand Coalition would never meaningfully dialogue with Government because of their hidden agenda.
He said it would be a waste of time to deal with a grouping with a hidden agenda.
“The PF Government should instead engage well-meaning stakeholders and patriotic Zambians to build consensus so that we can have a good Constitution before the 2016 general elections,” he said.
